COVID-19 Updates

The purpose of this page is to update our guests and community on any COVID-19-related cases, store closings and re-openings, and steps we're taking to keep everyone in our community healthy & safe.

Please note that we are committed to fully adhering to all CDC Guidelines. Any actions we take related to COVID-19 will be in step with this commitment.


December 12, 2020

High-Level Update:

  • The Arboretum store is back up and running with a healthy team and a safe space!
  • Both stores are now fully open from 11am-9pm every day.

December 6, 2020

High-Level Update:

  • Due to continued strict adherence to CDC guidelines around COVID-19, our Arboretum store is temporarily short-staffed and closed until Saturday, Dec 12.
  • We will return to normal hours (lunch + dinner) on Saturday, December 12.
  • Our Rosedale store is unaffected and remains open for lunch & dinner.

Details of COVID-19 Case:

  • On Friday, December 4, 2020, a second member of our team received a positive test result.
  • The last shift this person worked was Friday, December 4.
  • No guest came in close contact with this person (their position is dishwasher and back of house prep).

  • Other resources providing guidance (especially on testing related issues such as false negatives/positives): 2 pharmacists from Tarrytown Pharmacy, 1 doctor friend, and 1 friend who has received multiple tests as well as false positives

Actions we are taking: (in light of the above applicable guidelines and resources)

  • General:
    • All actions & precautions taken from December 1st update below regarding persons infected with COVID-19, close contacts, and all other team members will be applied in the same way on this case.
  • More specific on this particular case:
    • The person who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday received a negative COVID-19 test on Saturday, signaling a potential false positive test from Friday. However, after much consideration and consultation, we have firmly decided to honor the positive test as a true positive and to enact all relevant isolation and quarantine actions.

December 1, 2020

High-Level Update:

  • Due to strict adherence to CDC guidelines around COVID-19, our Arboretum store is temporarily short-staffed and limited to serving lunch shifts only (11am - 3pm), Monday - Friday.
  • We will return to normal hours on Saturday, December 12 (barring any new developments).
  • Our Rosedale store is unaffected and remains open for lunch & dinner.

We believe that transparency is key, so our entire community feels safe at Honest Mary's. In this vein, we want to share the details around our COVID-19 case that is causing our short staff and limited hours at Arboretum.

Details of COVID-19 Case:

  • On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, one of our team members received a positive test result.
  • The last shift this person worked was Friday, November 27.
  • This person began experiencing symptoms on Saturday evening at 10pm.
  • Six other team members were in close contact with this person while potentially contagious (48 hours before showing symptoms).
  • The rest of our team was not in close contact with this person.
  • No guest came in close contact with this person.

Applicable CDC guidelines:

Actions we are taking: (in light of the above details and CDC guidelines)

  • The person who has COVID-19 will be in quarantine until all of the following is true:
    • 10 days since symptoms first appeared, and
    • 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications, and
    • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving
  • All 6 team members who were in close contact will:
    • Stay home for 14 days after their last contact with the person who has COVID-19
      • Since contact for all 6 people was on Friday, November 27th, the return date will be Saturday, December 19
    • Watch for fever (100.4˚F), cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19
    • If possible, stay away from others, especially people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19
  • All other team members (who were not in close contact) will:
    • Closely monitor theirselves for symptoms of COVID-19
    • Quarantine if they develop symptoms, or if someone they were in close contact with develops symptoms
  • Disinfecting and decontaminating the restaurant:
    • Professional Cleaning and Disinfecting Services to help manage contamination
    • Includes the use of industrial-strength disinfectants approved by the CDC and the EPA and kills 99.9% of all bacteria and viruses
